Corrosion Potential

Measuring the corrosion potential to determine the risk of corrosion is a direct result of corrosion kinetics. The corrosion potential of a material is measured relative to a reference electrode. This method is widely used to assess the corrosion of steel rebar in concrete and underground pipes incorporating cathodic protection. It is also used for structures containing anodic protection.
